NEW FACES FOR CALIENTE Manager Gene -Normile Lining Up Capable Staff of Officials for Border Meeting. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, April 10. In operation, many aspects and new faces, Agua Caliente race track, opening May 8, under the direction of Eugene Normile, will be vastly different from the picture presented by the old regime. Substantial, proof of this is furnished by Normiles successful efforts in getting experienced and capable officials who have not served previously at Agua Caliente. The only exception will be that the veteran Harry Morrissey will be the starter, starter Ed Thomas filling in for Morrissey-until the latter concludes the Bay Meadows meeting. If Normile is successful in his quest he will shortly announce the name of a nationally known race official as the third member of the board of stewards. If unable to get this man, judges Harry Nelson and Benjamin Holmes will serve as stewards, and in addition, Holmes will be the racing secretary. The placing judges have been named. Those are Lewis H. Falk, who also will have charge of the publicity; J. M. Murphy, also clerk of the scales, and Al Austin. D. W. Hayaman will be entry clerk. A paddock and patrol judge will be named in a few days. A telephone call from M. W. Buck, representing Caliente at the Arlington Downs track, today gave Normile the information that Buck hopes to have at least six carloads of horses from that course. It is likely that a carload will be shipped from Kentucky, Normile also stated. The outdoor paddock, between the track and grandstand, has been removed and the roofed paddock near the clubhouse will be used. A flower-bordered walking ring will be installed. Many other innovations are planned, including an outdoor patio for the riders to lounge when not having mounts in any particular race.
