DKIANAS CAMPAIGN PLANS Clyde Van Dusen to Ship String to Narragansett. Park. Ten Well-Bred Juveniles to Be Included In Band Intended for Pawtucket Racing. Rested During Winter. PAWTUCKET, R. I., April 10. Thoroughly satisfied with the results of their first invasion of New England last year and planning an even more extensive campaign this season, the powerful Dixiana Stable is preparing to ship to Narragansett Park the cream of their thoroughbred stock from the winter quarters at Lexington, Ky. Head trainer Clyde Van Dusen, one of the old school of horsemen that prefers to rest a thoroughbred runner through the winter rather than train and race him, will play a mighty strong hand with a large string of fresh horses that havent seen a race track since last fall. Every horse in Van Dusena charge was turned out of training after last seasons campaign and was not picked up again until early March of this year. In addition to a group of ten beautifully-bred juveniles, Van Dusen will bring up and name for the stakes the crack three-year-olds Dressy, Crows Flight and Shootin High. The best of the older handicap division are Erin Torch and the good Miss Prudence. Dixianas ace rider, Charles Stevenson, will be along to do the riding and here again Van Dusens theory of rest in the winter is demonstrated. When Stevenson decided to spend his winter in Florida, Van Dusen stipulated the boys riding activities were to be limited to ten mounts per week, so that he should get thoroughly rested and freshened up. Stevenson faithfully kept the agreement which probably means that-popular little Charlie will be riding rings around most other jockeys when the season opens on May 1.
