PENNSYLVANIAS MUTUEL MUTUELBILL BILL BEFORE HOUSE HARRISBURG Pa May 6 Pennsyl ¬ vanias muchdebated bill to legalize pari mutuel betting on horse races is again before the house of representatives after being re ¬ ported out of committee yesterday by a com ¬ mittee vote of 11 to 3 3The The proposal House Bill No 286 spon ¬ sored by Representative Melchiorre of Phila ¬ delphia which passed first reading in the house February 17 has been amended in committee to reduce the salaries of three racing commissioners from 10000 to 6000 for the chairman and 5000 for the other two members Other committee changes would exempt county fairs and horse race meets which are held less than one week a year from the proposed state license fee Sponsors feeSponsors of the bill hope to bring it to a final vote in the house next week Melchiorre said he was certain the bill would be ap ¬ proved and sent to the senate where Senator John Dent is pushing the measure
