EXPERT OPINION ON THE DERBY In order that readers of Daily Racing Form may have every possible bit of information concerning the prospective Kentucky Derby candidates the predictions of trainers at Churchill Downs Jamaica Aurora and else ¬ where are presented one day before the big race These opinions are worth considering as they come from men well versed in the sport and who know horses Most of the trainers of the likely starters are included AT CHURCHILL DOWNS J J Flanigan I have a lot of good friends among the Derby trainers and I cant separate my friends but I hope the winner is the man who needs it most mostJohn John Oliver Keene War Admiral is my choice His last race was a good one and he is bred along lines I like for going a dis ¬ tance Dellor may be the one to beat beatC C Hye Smith Reaping Reward made a wonderful bid in his race the other day and he never gave up He should improve suf ¬ ficiently off that race to be at his best for the Derby DerbyJ J G McAtee After seeing the Derby horses in action I must like War Admiral off what he has done this year j Eugene Bury The race appears to be be ¬ tween Dellor and Pompoon Dellor handled himself like a good horse in his winning race Tuesday TuesdayJ J T Weaver I like Reaping Reward just because of his race Tuesday That effort should bring him up to the Derby in prime condition conditionJ J M Gaver War Admiral has the speed to get a position and hes bred to go the distance I look for improvement in Reap ¬ ing Reward RewardW W E Schmidt I like Heelfly I saw his dam race and she is bound to have foaled a good horse horseSherrill Sherrill Ward Reaping Reward ran a good race and it is bound to help him himG G F Mitchell Sceneshifter for me There is no telling how fast he can run runR R L Stivers After a long to win it Lee ODonnell I am stringing along with Pompoon He topped them all last year and I am throwing out the Wood Memorial ef fort Milton Rieser Dellor will win it He can run on any kind of a track and is a fit horse J H Skirvin War Admiral is the only horse that has stood up this year He should win it T L Pierce I must stick with the sons of Old Erin and James Fitzsimmons will send out the winner in Melodist E E Moar War Admiral for me He has done everything asked of him himW W L Hoag I think War Admiral will win it He is the best horse Tommy Oliphant It is a hard race to pick but I must choose War Admiral Aron Frost Reaping Reward for me He looks to be the best horse horseS S G Baker Sr I like Reaping Reward He is a good horse has a good trainer and Robertson is a great rider Jack Hanover Reaping Reward for me He needed the race and it will fit him for the Derby Harry Saladin War Admiral all the way He has it on the others Harry Trotsek No one but Reaping Re ward I believe may run one bad one He should be sec ¬ ond and War Admiral seems to be better than the others othersHugh Hugh Collins That race run by Melodist makes him my choice but I have a high regard for Reaping Reward and probably the horse that beats him will be winner War Admiral should hold the others safe safeW W D Babcock I watched Pompoon in the Wood and he had some misfortunes in the running His race was not within twenty pounds of his form and I look for him to win War Admiral seems to be the colt to beat and while Heelfly will go well I expect to see Reaping Reward third thirdJack Jack Campbell
