NEW YORK RACING ON ONTHE THE UPWARD TREND NEW YORK N Y May 6 A steadily mounting increase in attendance receipts and tax revenue is show in figures released by the New York State Racing Commission for the first fifteen days of racing of the current season seasonRacing Racing began at Jamaica on April 15 and the track attendance from the first day has been beyond the most sanguine anticipations Even on offdays the public patronage has been equal to feature days a few years ago and on the two Saturdays within the period the attendance has been such as to more than fill greatly enlarged accommodations con ¬ structed at the race track during the winter winterThe The attendance for the first fifteen days of this year as compared to the first sixteen days of 1936 shows an increase of 22260 the gate receipts an increase of 4677480 and the amount due the state in taxes an increase of 863391 The figures for the fifteen days of this vear alone were Attendance 144 181 receipts 24909920 and tax 4246743
