RUNS FAST THREEQUARTERS frass Em By Makes Best Time for forDistance Distance of Current Meeting at atAgawam Agawam Rain Falls AGAWAM Mass June 1 Racing six fur ¬ longs in the fastest time of the meeting and inaking his first start in almost seven tnonths Pass Em By swiftrunning three yearold in the barn of Joseph Green was winner of the featured Hartford Purse an allowance race that served as the principal event at Agavrm Park today todayMeeting Meeting older sprinters and running the distance in 112 the bay son of By Pass II and Step Lively a winner of seven races as a twoyearold scored convincingly when he j reached the end three lengths in advance of R A Bretons Maxine F while third was the award for Beefsteak of the Mrs L H Nimkoff stable They finished noses apart back of the winner and just a few inches before Patsey Begone the ruling choice Only six starters were engaged in the prin ¬ cipal offering and hardly any delay occurred at the starting point before the sextette got away in good order with the fleet Beef j eteak setting a brisk pace to lead the way I down the backstretch Pass Em By lucky to find room on the inside followed abreast of the pacemaker while Patsey Begone wedged between the pair held third position as Maxine P going in her best fashion led the two others Beefsteak did not remain long in the lead giving way to Patsey Be gone on the turn but Pass Em By was hug 1 ging the inside and drew clear entering the stretch when Patsey Begone swung wide wideRacing Racing along rapidly Pass Em By left his opponents and at the finish had three lengths to spare over Maxine F and Beef ¬ steak as they waged a bitter argument for the place The camera was called into use to decide the runnerup position with the R A Breton miss earning the decision decisionClear Clear and hot weather tempered late in the afternoon by thunder showers prevailed for the sport at Agawam and although j there was a sharp decline in the attendance from the first two days some excellent sport was furnished
