JAMES TO RIDE EAGLE PASS Crack Jockey Convalescing from fromTonsil Tonsil Operation to Pilot Texas TexasStar Star in Latonia Derby HOMEWOOD 111 June 1 Basil James who is convalescing in a Chicago hospital following a tonsilectomy has been engaged to ride the Valdina Farms Eagle Pass in the Latonia Derby June 12 it was learned today Jockey James is recovering rapidly from his operation and expects to be back in the saddle within a short time timeThat That Eagle Pass is a definite starter in the Latonia Derby was indicated by trainer J J Flanigan who said the colt would be shipped to the Kentucky track barring the unexpected The Valdina threeyearold is developing into one of the best of his age and Monday stamped himself a star of the first water by finishing second to Count Morse in the Blue and Gray Handicap in which he outfinished a number of older performers
