NOTABLE RIDING FEATS Jockey J. Adams is the ninth jockey in American turf history, of which there is authentic record, to rids six winners on one day. James Lee, a colored rider, holds the worlds record of riding the entire card of six races at Churchill Downs, June 5, 1907. This feat was duplicated July .5, 1916 at Reno, when H. Phillips rode six winners, the full card for that days racing. No others have equalled or surpassed this record, though a namesake of the present sensation A. Adams, a Baltimore boy rode six winners, all his mounts at Marlboro, Md., on September 11, 1930, when seven races were run. The remainder who rode six winners in one day had more than six mounts with the exception of Monk Overton, a famous colored rider of the late 80s, who rode six winners at old Washington Park, July 10, 1891 on which day there were seven races on the card. Among the nine riders to pilot six winners in one day is the popular Earl Sande, now famous as the trainer of Stagehand, winner of the Santa Anita Derby and the 00,000 Santa Anita Handicap, and favorite for this years Kentucky Derby, who scored with six out of seven mounts on September 17, 1919.
