I NINE IN CALIFORNIA DERBY . . 4 SAN MATEO, Calif., April 8. Nine horses and six interests are represented in the ,000 added California Derby field, which will be the feature race Saturday afternoon. Lavengro, top weight horse with 122 pounds, will probably be a short-priced favorite. The former Norman W. Church crack three-year-old will race in the silks of the Maca-roo Stable and has drawn outside post position in the mile and a sixteenth contest. J. "Shorty" Adams, who broke a California jockey record by riding six consecutive winners Thursday afternoon, will ride one of the Boeing horses in the Derby. Adams has been named on both Open Door and Grim Reaper. He will probably have the leg up on the latter.
