ETHELS CHOICE, racing strongly from the start, went into the lead without effort, opened up a clear margin and had enough in reserve to hold PAY RACK safe in the closing test. PAY RACK raced forwardly under steady pressure and closed gamely, but could not menace the winner. SPEED QUEEN, beginning slowly, bettered her position on the outside, but could not reach the first two. BURNING BILLOWS was never dangerous. FOXO raced well, but was not good enough. DON GOMEZ tired after making a stout bid at the turn. GURT PALMER showed early speed, then quit. KNACK was away very slowly. Overweight Don Gomez, 5 pounds; Gurt Palmer, 2. EURYALUS, crowded at the start, recovered quickly to hold a position in the first flight, vore down the leaders inside the final eighth and held on determinedly- to withstand GAYETTE. The latter also overcame interference at the start, bettered her position steadily and finished strongly on the inside of the winner. NOAJEAN, away clear and prominent early, came gamely in the closing test. BROOM TOUR had much speed for five-eighths, then tired. CELTIC LEGEND was away poorly. CHISPA opened up a long lead after being first to leave the stalls, saved ground, but quit badly in the final quarter DO IT was knocked back at the start. Scratched 56285!Bay Stout, 98. DARBY DUKE, stoutly handled and racing forwardly, raced through a wide opening on the inside at the stretch turn when the leaders swung wide, finished gamely and was up in the concluding strides. MAYRO was a stout contender all the way, engaged COSMIC RAY at the stretch turn, was forced wide and just failed-to withstand the winner after getting to the front between calls in the stretch. COSMIC RAY was hurried into the lead, showed good speed, but bore out at the stretch turn and tired after carrying MAYRO wide. SYMPHON could not keep up under strong urging. MAKEIT, slow to get going, passed tiring horses in the late stages. TRANSIT LADY was held safe. DEV was outrun. MUGGINS tired. SURE HOUR showed a flash of early speed. SCUDDER, steadied within striking distance of the leaders, displaced them when ready, opened up a clear lead and held sway until the end. BRANDON PRINCE, racing in improved form, was kept in the first flight and was under intermittent punishment in the last five-eighths to outstay RITZ BROTHERS. The latter worked his way into contention steadily, but was very weakly ridden in the stretch. TWO TRICKS sprinted into an easy lead, saved ground, but failed to stay when put to a drive. THE WINK drew clear after moving to the front saved ground, but tired in the final quarter. BULL MARKET raced well up from the start and held on stoutly in the final drive. CARLOVINIAN was kept on the inside all the way and could not get to the leaders. BLUE KING raced well. MALICE was outrun. ASTRA quit badly. Scratched 56141 Yenoc, 115; 56046 Still Alarm, 102.
