CHARLOTTE GIRL WINS ABERDEEN STAKES EASILY FILLYS FIFTH VICTORY Brilliant SachsenmaierMiss Defeats Good Juveniles at Havre. Finishes Five Lengths in Front in Time Near Track Record Remains Unbeaten. HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 15. Picking up 116 pounds to concede weight to the best juveniles that could be mustered, El-wood Sachsenmaiers unbeaten filly, Charlotte Girl, ran her winning streak to five straight when she administered defeat to five good youngsters in the twenty-sixth running of the ,500 Aberdeen Stakes, which topped the splendid opening program of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Associations spring meeting at Havre de Grace today. The score which kept the slate of the Cohort filly unstained since making her debut January 12 was scored in convincing fashion, and it was the easiest of any when she sped four and one-half furlongs in :53 to beat Star Runner, of the W. H. Berri stable, by five lengths. Third went to My Porter, In the livery of F. J. Buchanan, while Watch Over, from, the H. Bruce stable, was fourth to lead home Our Chuckie and Mask and Wig, the only others under colors after Walli and Oak Apple were withdrawn. ANOTHER FLORIDA WINNER. Charlotte Girl, winner of the Hialeah Park Championship and several other important events, including the Bowie Kindergarten a couple of weeks ago, was installed a top-heavy favorite for the sprint and It marked the fourth consecutive season that a two-year-old from a Florida campaign earned this early spring prize, Benjam, Goldey F. and Wise Duke having accounted for the event in previous seasons. The twenty-sixth edition of the Aberdeen was the mecca for a large opening gathering at the Harford County track. Ideal weather prevailed and although choices were missing from the charmed circle most of the afternoon, some excellent sport resulted. The attendance was estimated at 12,000, most of these coming from Philadelphia. In the Aberdeen, which served as the fourth race, little time was lost before a good start was obtained for the half dozen under silks, and it found Our Chuckie, breaking from No. 2 stall, first to leave the gate. Charlotte Girl was second and she went along just a length back of the Bomar colt in the first quarter mile, while Star Runner barely led Mask and Wig, Watch Over and My Porter. Our Chuckie was just off the rail as he set the early pace, leaving enough opening for Charlotte Girl to find clear racing room, and jockey J. Longden wisely saved the valuable ground. MOVES OUT FROM RAIL. With the stretch turn near, Charlotte Girl was taken out off the rail when the Bomar colt began to shorten strides, swept on past rapidly and after going into a lead of two lengths at mid-stretch, increased her advantage until she landed at the line winner by five lengths. Charlotte Girl paid .90 and her time was just three-fifths of a second short of the track record of :53. B. F. Whitakers useful three-year-old Pharamond II. Gay OMar colt, Mythical King, registered his first eastern win and chalked up his third victory of the year when he dominated all of the running to Continued on twenty-sixth page. j i CHARLOTTE GIRL EASILY WINS ABERDEEN STAKES Continued from first page. defeat five jother middle distance performers in the Calvert Handicap, that served, as the co-feature. With 112 pounds as. his burden, jockey Kenneth McCombs had the Whitaker racer in the van going to the first turn, then nursed the colt in front before A. C. "Home-breds of. the cheaper grade met for honors in the opening event that yvas a test at six furlongs and it saw Fyan, from the stable of Gustave Ring, emerging victorious to score at the immediate expense of the favorite, Flying Orphan. Third went to Jolly Duchess, a first-time starter, while Westbrooke led the others in the field of eight. The second race attracted a limit field of three-year-old maidens to vie for supremacy at the same distance as the first event and it. furnished an opportunity for Billmar, Derby hope of the Bomar Stable, to earn his graduation diploma when, he accounted for the test in rather easy style. Scoring by a length and one half, he led Shandon Farms Lady Elgin, to the finish, with Equerry beating the others for third. Billmar was making his debut for the season after four fail-.iires last year and made his presence felt early in the contest when he raced abreast of Equerry, forcing a swift pace. TEN STARTERS. Ten swift three-year-olds measured strides in the Mayf ield, another dash at six furlongs that was the third offering, with Battle Jack, from the J. W. Y. Martin stable, proving a surprise and easy winner. Ridden by jockey Raymond Workman, to come from well back of his opponents after a tardy beginning, the son of John P. Grier led Mrs. E. Denemarks Blind Eagle to the end of the trip, while Dog Flower, undefeated in two starts this season, was third for the Millsdale Stable. i !
