DENY R. R. FARE INCREASE WASHINGTON, D. C, April 15 The petition of eastern railroads to boost passenger fares from 2 to 2 1-2 cents a mile was denied by the Interstate Commerce Commission Thursday. The territory affected would be from Chicago to the Atlantic seaboard and as far south as Washington. President Roosevelt only recently asked financial aid for depressed carriers.
