Exterminator Winner in 1918 LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 1.— Probably no other Kentucky Derby winner became more popular after the stake than W. S. Kilmers Exterminator, who won the coveted prize in 1918. The rangy gelding, who was and is still affectionately known as Old Bones, won 52,596 during his active career on the turf. Generally rated as one of the best of all handicap and stakes performers, Exterminator started 100 times and was returned the winner in 50 of those efforts. He won at all distances from five and one-half furlongs to two and one-quarter miles, and was a factor in every important race on the continent.
