GALLANT HOUR took command at once, shook off BOOTER Mc in the stretch, then continued gamely to withstand ERIN TORCH. The latter, never far back, saved ground through the first half, came determinedly when called upon for the drive, but could not reach the winner. BOOTER Mc, much used engaging the winner to the final eighth, failed to stay in the closing stages. SHERLOCK was unable to better his position under good handling and had no excuse. ROCKWICK was never a threat. STRAIGHT THRU finished strongly after being outrun through the first half. MAGIC POWER tired. ALLENS BOY had brief early speed. Overweight Magic Power, 4 pounds. DARBY DEMON saved ground while racing within striking distance of the leader to the stretch, responded readily when called upon and lasted to withstand MIAH. The latter, slow to start, worked his way up steadily, came determinedly in the final quarter and was getting to the winner at the close. BRAGABOUT, outrun in the first half, came to the extreme ouside for the drive and closed with a rush. PRECISION could not better his posiiion under good handling and had no mishaps. GOOD PLAY was unable to threaten. PAIRFORT took command at once, set the pace for five-eighths, then gave way suddenly. SEMISHOOTw was done after the first half. MR. SAM was never dangerous. Won driving; second and third the same. TETE-A-TETE began quickly, settled in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. GRAY ROMANCE could not better her position gave way to BALL AND CHAIN approaching the stretch, but came again in the drive and was up in the last sixteenth. BALL AND CHAIN took command approaching the final turn, held a short lead when when hard urged through the final quarter. FIELD LARK closed determinedly and had no excuses. CURE-AGAL tired. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. TOWER MISS worked her way up steadily on the outside, responded to brisk driving in the stretch and was up in the closing strides. KATES SILVER, on the inside from the start, came determinedly when straightened for the drive and just missed. ZACANITE raced to the front at once, set the pace to the stretch, then faltered. SINGING SUN, much Used racing ZACANITE into defeat, had nothing left for the drive. CHORSIE broke well, then dropped hack in the opening quarter, but came again in the stretch and gave a good effort.
