Leading South African Sire Special Correspondence CAPETOWN, South Africa.— The Irish-bred Satyr 1931, a gray horse by the Two Thousand Guineas winner Tetratema, out of Nigella, is the leading sire in South Africa. Bred in the County Limerick by M. S. Carroll, and sold by him as a yearling at the Doncaster sales for ,830, Satyr subsequently raced under Lord Carnarvons colors and made a reputation for himself in sprint races in England. When he was a three-year-old. Lord Carnarvon paid 0,000 for him in dissolving a partner. hip. Later he became the property of the What-combe trainer. R. C. "Dick" Dawson, who sold him to Messrs. Kerr and Co., Dublin. Ireland. The latter firm exported him to South Africa.
