Will Hold Two Sessions Each Day During Sales Afternoon and Evening Vendues At Keeneland Yearling Auctions LEXINGTON, Ky., June 21.— Central Kentucky thoroughbred breeders in a meeting here Saturday, voted to hold two daily sessions of the thoroughbred yearling sales, slated for August 9 to 11, at 3:30 and 8:30 p. m.each day. It was further agreed that consignors be assessed 0 per head for each yearling sold. This money will be used to furnish the noon and evening meals and other refreshments for the breeders and buyers who will attend the sales at the Keeneland race course. Meals will be served the Sunday before the sale and through the auctions. The Turf Catering Company will be in charge of the service. Providing meals at the track eliminates the necessity for breeders and buyers having to make extra trips between Keeneland and downtown Lexington. Thomas B. Cromwell, local representative for the Fasig-Tipton Company, which conducts the sale, states that 48 breeders have already consigned about 400 yearlings. Breeders had previously ruled that only consignors who participated in last years sales at Saratoga could offer thoroughbreds this year in Lexington. However, today the breeders agreed that Charles Nuckols, Midway, Ky.; Lewis J. Tutt, Georgetown, Ky.; Lowry Watkins, Louisville, and Roy Farmer, Versailles, Ky., should be allowed to consign yearlings. They have been occasional consignors to Saratoga whenever they had worthy stock. Six catalogs will be issued, one for each of the sessions. Hal Price Headley, Keeneland president, stated that stalls will be ready to receive the yearlings in ample time and that individual consignors are responsible for their own feed and bedding and should not rely on the sales company. As Keeneland is within the ten-mile limit from Lexington — the zone to which cabs are restricted by the ODT — taxicab service will be available. Buses also will be available to transport buyers and breeders after the night sessions.
