Spred Horses Seek Castaway Handicap Bull Reigh Among Thirteen Entered Brooklyn, Great American And Gazelle Fields Taking Shape at Aqueduct Course AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 21.— The Castaway Handicap, a class "C" sprint of seven furlongs which is endowed with ,500 by the Queens County Jockey Club, is the piece de resistance of a well-filled and generally unpretentious program at Aqueduct tomorrow. The featured offering has attracted a promised field of 13, several of them erstwhile "name" horses who hobnobbed in stakes in younger and better days and who still have a smattering of speed. Prominent among these are Bull Reigh, Birch Rod, Wait a Bit, Eire, Porters Cap and Paperboy. With just this half dozen appearing, it would be an interesting contest, especially as handicapper Jack Campbell has a penchant for applying the principle that weight brings them all together with unusual success. The week-end was a quiet one for a majority of the prospective starters in the Gazelle on Wednesday and Saturdays dual features, the 0,000 Brooklyn Handicap and the Great American for juveniles. George Wideners Lucky Draw, who captured the Tremont Saturday, also is an aspirant for the ,000 Great American of six furlongs, and currently looms the stanchest favorite that will parade for any of the remaining stakes the final week of the Queens County Jockey Club meeting. Don Bingo, upset winner of the Suburban Handicap, and Belairs Vagrancy, 1942 turf queen, are two prominent Brooklyn hopefuls who progressed in their training by finishing second and third respectively behind Lochinvar on last Saturdays card. Probables for 0,000 Handicap Market Wise, the Brooklyn high weight, under a steadier of 128 pounds, Greentrees Shut Out and William Helis Attention, appeared in a prep race today in the Celt Purse, at a mile and a furlong. On the whole, this ensuing Brooklyn renewal promises as significant a run as the Dwyer was insignificant. The probable starting field may be more accurately determined after , Wednesdays mid-week training period than is possible at the moment, but Market Wise, 128; Shut Out, 124; Devil Diver, 123; Attention, 121; Apache, 116, and Don Bingo under 113 are regarded as more or less certain acceptances. The field for Wednesdays ,000 Gazelle, of a mile and a sixteenth, includes no Vagrancies among the 26 nominees, nevertheless will attract a sizable field of moderately good three-year-old fillies who may be confidently relied upon to provide an interesting skirmish. The possibilities include Cain Hoys Best Risk, Glen Riddles Opera Singer, Mrs. E. C. Salsburys Sparkling Maid, Mrs. W. Plunkett Stewarts Dairy Lady, Wheatleys Navigating, Lt. Col. C. V. Whitneys Legend Bearer, George Wideners Stefanita and Pomrose and J. E. Wideners Fair Weather. This group is rather unflatteringly like last week-ends Dwyer so far as any pretentions to class is concerned, but may compare also with that 5,000 affair as a spectacle and an "open betting race."
