Method in Handling Groom Awards at Jamaica Changed JAMAICA, L. I., N. Y.. April 12. — A | further change has been announced in the method of handling the grooms bonus at the New York tracks. Effective today, 00 will be added to each purse, up to, but not including ,000. From this 00, each trainer reporting to the paddock with a horse will be credited with , and the trainer of the winner will be credited with an additional 5. The residue, after these deductions, will be credited to the owner of the winner. For example, in the first race today, which had six starters, 0 was paid in basic trainers awards, 5 more to the trainer of the winner, and 5 to the owner of the winner, plus, of course, his normal split of the purse. While it is understood that the trainer awards and 0 of the winning trainers award is to be paid to the grooms, the association assumes no responsibility for the disposition of this money after it is credited to the trainers.
