Race Classifications Every type of race in which thor- , oughbreds compete is clearly indi- | cated in DAILY RACING FORM past performances, eliminating all possibility of confusion in determining the quality of every horse. The various classes of races are denoted by the following simple abbreviations: Mdn — Maidens. 1 AIwM — Maiden allowance. Alw — Allowance. AlwA — Graded allowance, class "A." AlwS — Allowance stake. HcpO — Overnight handicap. HcpA — Graded handicap, class "A." IlcpS — Handicap stake. Wfa — Weight-for-age. WfaS — Weight-for-age stake. ScwS — Scale weight stake. Comb — Combination. SplW — Special weights. Mtch — Match race. All claiming events are denoted by the price for which the horse is entered, which is shown after jockeys name. Some of the above abbreviations are used for steeplechase and hurdle races, in which instances an S in a single bracket, IS, indicates steeplechases and an H in a single bracket, IH, indicates hurdle events.
