Beulah Park Preparing For 3-Day Victory Meet ,000 Handicap Event to Top Saturdays Opening Program COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 26. Usually, at this time of year, there is little activity at Beulah Park. The stables that winter at the Grove City course are being campaigned at other tracks in the middle-west. But Beulah Park, instead of being a scene of inactivity, is quite the antithesis as plans and preparations are being rushed for the three-day "Victory meeting" opening next Saturday. Already, stables have begun to check in for the session, all proceeds of which will go to the Franklin County War Chest. Stall applications have been received from Ascot Park, which closed Saturday; Wheeling Dpwns, River Downs and Fairmount Park. However, most of the racing establishments will ship in from Ascot, which a month ago attracted the bulk of its stables from Beulahs spring meeting, and Randall Park. Robert J. Dienst, president and general manager, and all of his associates are hopeful that a tidy sum is realized for the War Chest. Last year, the Grove City course raised 1,825.45 for War Relief and in 1942 the total was 3,538. m Saturdays program will be headlined by the running of the Franklin County War Chest Handicap for a purse of ,000 and the Fourth of July program will be featured by the Independence Day Handicap, also for a ,0.00 purse. The minimum purse for any race during the abbreviated meeting will be 00. Among the riders who are to ply their trade is 16-year-old Charlie Hutchinson of Las Vegas, N. M. Hutchinson rode the first winner of his career at Fairmount Park three weeks ago and then transferred to Ascot Park where he rode so sensationally that he is now regarded equally as promising as Eddie Yocum, the youngster who paced the reinsniah.
