Fairmount in Final Full Week of Meeting r Both Handle, Attendance Well f Up Oyer Last Falls Figures COLLINSVILLE, HI., June 26. The final full week of races is down for decision at Fairmount Park with the meeting coming to a close next Tuesday, July 4, winding up one of the most successful sessions under f the present regime. Mutuel play is nearly v 35 per cent over last fall, while the attendance surpasses last seasons mark by more than 25 per cent. Following the last "dark" Monday of the current spring season, racing will be resumed here tomorrow with the usual eight- race program. As usual, the fields are hot 1 as large as former years, but they are well matched and good racing is expected once again. Prospects are for a fast track for tomorrows sport. The course was heavy this morning because of heavy rains ; J Sunday night and early this morning, but track superintendent John LeBlanc and his assistants were whipping the course into fine shape during the "off" day. Topping the racing tomorrow is the sixth 1 event, a one mile and 70 yards dash which L brings together half a dozen better than l average claiming horses. None are winners ; at the meeting, but they have been close , enough in recent engagements to make the affair an interesting one. Hand Battle and Ardour, a pair of horses who have been , running in handicaps, have been dropped down to lower company and are to meet such well known local favorites as Pa-ducah, Alca Eve, Chance Tea and Smart i Charley. Alca Eve showed her readiness for a, winning race in her last outing when she finished second, while Smart Charley was , denied his only victory of the season in his last race when beaten a nose by Beauzar, while Alca Eve lost the decision by half a length to Eva Webre, the latter winner of three races here this season. Paducah showed .improvement in his last outing and only weakened in the late stages of that race, while Chance Tea has been running in sprint events and giving a good account of herself. Ardour has been showing unusual early speed in handicaps, but was over his head and appears to be in his own company in tomorrows race, while Hand Battle has . two good races to his credit here, one in a six-furlong dash, and the other, a second to Fisherville, over a distance of ground. There are three other races on the card at one mile and 70 yards, the first time at the meeting racing secretary Richard A. Leigh being fortunate enough to draw the distance runners together in four such races. The fifth event brings together Miss Priority, Commencement, The Cloud, Bal-tee, Baby Gold; Royal Blue and Replication, while the seventh race has 10 prob-Alfreds Lad, Quaker Brass, Lotagold and Larkalong. The other distance race is the eighth and there are 12 in, this contest. Numbered among the probable starters here are Dusky Maid, Silent Time, Brown Comet, Rolls Day, Tidy Peter, Board Bill, Waringa, Jacotot, Nego Ele, Brown Pennant, Des Grieux and Baron Omar. Myrna, Pandisco, Lookout Rascal and Gold Flag hook up in the six-furlong fourth race. They are double winners here and will be trying for their third success of the meeting. Matched against them are Whiteford Irma, Street Arab, Ten Blow, Bay Whisk and Victory Play. The first two races are at five and one-half furlongs, while the third is over the six furlongs distance. General manager D. C. Burnett was more than pleased with the Saturday turnout of more than 8,000 fans and is confident the crowds this week will surpass the unusually large throngs of past weeks.
