Air Sailor arid Tomos Graduate at Detroit Both Show Way Throughout And Combine as Daily Double Winners DETROIT, Mich., June 26. The first and second races at the Fair Grounds today afforded respective opportunities for Air Sailor and Tomos to graduate from the maiden ranks. Both, incidentally, accomplished front-running scores. In his success, Air Sailor took the measure of 11 other two-year-olds, while flaunting the colors of Detroiter, Lt. Com. Theodore D. Buhl, to a four lengths victory. He covered the five furlongs in :59 over a fast track and before a gathering of approximately 10,000. As favorite, Air Sailor rewarded at .40 for . He was never really seriously threatened, merely "coasting" to the finish before Major Jimmy, while SeeD. brought up third position six lengths farther back. The Daily Double combination of Air Sailor and Tomos paid 53.70. The latter had shown speed here in previous essays, but failed to last. Today, however, he lasted, but with emphasis. Taking over shortly after the start, the three-year-old son of Wise Counsellor Sun Maiden sauntered to a three-length decision while completing the six furlongs in 1:12 y5. Sacaton finished second, four lengths before Shin-emup. Both, by the way, finished well, but could not even get close to the winner. The favorite, Victory Sweep, was never a serious factor, finishing fifth. He ran some in spots. Tomos was rather lightly regarded and, therefore, brought f -at an 8.20 pay-off.
