Twilight Tear, Durazna Await Princess Doreen Crack Fillies to Meet at Sprint Distance Oyer Home wood Course HOMEWOOD, 111., June 26. While others undoubtedly will be among the starters, principal interest in the 0,000 Princess Doreen Stakes at Washington Park on Wednesday will center on the meeting of Calumet Farms Twilight Tear, who already has a powerful claim on the seasons three-year-old filly championship, and Brownell Combs Durazna who in her first and only start of 1944 won the Anita Peabody Purse here last week. The race will be contested at six furlongs, a condition which many believe will be to Duraznas advantage. Over a distance greater than a mile Twilight Tear probably would be a pronounced favorite, but at three-quarters the Combs filly is certain to have solid support and an excellent chance of winning. Both fillies are coming up to the Princess Doreen in splendid fashion. This morning Twilight Tear, winner already of several important stakes this year, gave some evidence of her speed by stepping a half mile in :47. Durazna gave a private exhibition of her condition last Saturday when she breezed six furlongs in l:14y5 during the training hours. How many other fillies will pppose these two will remain for the entries themselves to determine when they are announced to- morrow, but it is likely the owners of five or six other eligibles will elect to take a chance on victory in the Princess Doreen. Among those nominated are Harriet Sue, second last week to Durazna, Okpal, Big Push, Miss U. S. O., Actress Lady, Bell Song, Missy Miss and Sentiment Sake.
