Walt Whitman Stakes Draws 133 Nominees Burg-el-Arab, Fighting Don and Flood Town in Camden Fixture CAMDEN, N. J., June 26. No less than 133 nominations have been received for the 0,000 Walt Whitman Stakes, main offering for two-year-olds during the Garden State Park meeting. Heading the attractive list for the stake, which will be run September 4, are the unbeaten Burg-el-Arab and Fighting Don as well as the double stakes winner, Flood Town. Burg-el-Arab, a long-striding Boojum colt owned by Col. C. V. Whitney, has impressed all with his blazing speed during his short career. Winner of the historic Tremont in his last start, Burg-el-Arab again is upholding the brilliant racing record of Whitney horses. In addition to Burg-el-Arab, Whitney, has three other star performers entered for the Walt Whitman. They are Hindu Kush, rated only slightly behind Burg-el-Arab by the Whitney Stable connections; Jeep, a stretch-running Mahmoud colt, and Cave Man. Fighting Don likewise is undefeated in two starts and his owner, Miss Gertrude Donovan is hopeful that the colt will go on to duplicate the racing deeds of his illustrious sire. Fighting Fox. Another royally bred youngster is Flood !Town, winner of Belmonts Juvenile and National Stallion Stakes. Son of Johns- town, the colt owned by Lt. Edward Lasker is reported to be a dead ringer for his sire and has been running in much the same manner. A flash out of the starting gate, Flood Town has already proven his game-ness by twice beating off Whitneys Jeep in stretch drives. The Longchamps Farm, which provided last years Walt Whitman winner in Dance Team, will be back again seeking to repeat with Baron Jack, a Stimulus Heloise colt who cost 3,000 at the yearling sales, the second highest price of the season. Baron Jack has raced only once and ran greenly. He should be well seasoned by the time the Walt Whitman Stake is run. Other classy nominees are Alabama, a 7,000 purchase who won Pimlicos Ral Parr Stakes; J. M. Roeblings Jersey-bred trio of Ace Flash, Ace Star and Ace Skipper, all sons of the famous Case Ace. Ace Star is a full brother to Lochinyar, the Quaker City Handicap winner here last year. Mrs. Payne Whitneys Dockstader, Pimlico Nursery victor, is another prominent prospect.
