Illinois News and Notes WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., June 27. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Lusky, for whom Odie Clelland trains a number of horses, are here for a visit. Their home is in Louisville. Dave Hurn checked in from Arlington, Texas, with Hop Picker, Flying King and Gal Ann. N. A. McMaster has registered the horses Chipamink, Volcano, Michigan Chevy and Kimmy for J. E. Kelly and S. L. Jones, who maintain the Silver Star Stock Farm. Willard Baker brought Stinging Bee. Last Roll, The McLane and Miguelito from California. E. M. Hall brought Latern here from Kentucky for E. B. McAtee. M. A. Tenney brought 12 horses from Arizona for Rex E. Ellsworth, and seven of them are gray. W. C. Weant will race five horses here for James C. Ellis. They are Burgoolette, Bel Mier, Prime Aethel Fair Dreamer and Fly Me Now. Thirty-nine jockeys make up the riding colony here at present. R. A. Lewis arrived from California in advance of the horses he will race for L. Nehring and E. J. Myers. The string, due tomorrow, includes Hemite, Maejames, Tusco, Black Time and Poet Laureate. Jockey Arthur Fischers suspension at Churchill Downs expires over the week-end and he will resume riding Monday. He is under engagement to Jake Lowenstein. R. A. Coward reports that Marriage, just arrived from California with other horses he owns in partnership with Carl Du Puy, will be ready to return to competition in 30 days or less. The stables Appleknocker is a scheduled starter in the Equipoise Mile on July 4. Trainer G. E. "Jay" Lewis has received word that C. V. Carr, who has horses racing here, is in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.
