Triple Crown Roster Bold Venture, who is among the stallions at the huge King Ranch in Texas, must have nodded approvingly when he learned, in appropriate "horse language," that his son, Assault, had won the Belmont Stakes, thus joining the six other horses who have captured Americas coveted "Triple Crown." Bold Venture annexed the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, the first two gems in the diadem, in 1936, but was withdrawn from the Belmont Stakes due to an injury suffered shortly before the running. Winners of the "Triple Crown" follow: Year. Horse. Owner. 1919 Sir Barton J. K. L Ross 1930 Gallant Fox William Woodward 1935 Omaha William Woodward 1937 War Admiral Samuel D. Riddle 1941 Whir I away Warren Wright 1943 Count Fleet Mrs. John Hertz 1946 Assault R. J. Kleberg, Jr.
