Australian Bernborough Wins Ninth in Row BRISBANE, Australia, June 1.— [Reuters]— A. O. Romans Australian sprint champion Bernborough scored his ninth consecutive victory at Doomben today by capturing the 0,000 Ahern Memorial Handicap, a seven-furlong test, in track-record time before 40,000 spectators. Carrying 145 pounds, the victor, by Em-borough out of Bern Maid, crossed the finish line two lengths in front of W. Watsons Cragsman, with Mrs. J. Fergusons Puffham another half length farther back. Twenty-seven runners started. Priced at 7 to 2, Bernborough, handled by jockey Athol G. Ulley of Sydney, was timed in 1:28%, over a fast track.
