WHERRIE, racing improved, took command at once, was steadied along while maintaining a clear lead and won with speed in reserve. CALABOZO improved position steadily on the outside leaving the backstretch, continued to gain in the middle of the stretch, then hung. TEXALITE, under a tight hold until midway of the final turn, closed willingly under steady urging. SCOTCH BREAD was forwardly placed on the outside, moved up with a rush after three-quarters, then faltered. FLUSSY passed tiring horses GRAND DAY was never a serious contender. RONALD M. was outrun to the stretch. MARYMICK retired steadily. BOUND TO RISE had brief early speed. Scratched— 98368 Alcinous, 111; 99154 Halcyon Boy, 114.
