Phidias Makes Good in Role Of Favorite in Constitution SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 1. — Living up to his form and galloping home an easy winner despite the fact that he went wide on the stretch turn, William Helis* Phidias, the l-to-2 choice over a mediocre field of five rivals, won the Constitution Handicap, with 0,000 added, before 25,452 enthusiasts who braved the Northeast wet rawness at Suffolk Downs today. Phidias galloped the mile event for three-year-olds in 1:38%, very good time considering that jockey Herb Lindberg merely was biding his time and really did not make his move until reaching the eighth pole. Even the loss of a couple of lengths on th« turn failed to make much difference, and he won by more than two lengths over H. G. Bedwells Prognosis, with Mt. Desert Stables Tim B. taking the show award from Marilyn Stables Laboulaye.
