, Diamond Dick Heads Six Vying In Cadillac Handicap at Detroit Will Endeavor to Show Way 1 Home to Many Lands Again; Air Sailor in Route Contest FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 7. — A corking card is arranged for tomorrow at the Motor City track by racing secretary Charles F. Henry with the 0,000 Cadillac Handicap topping the eight-race program. This is a dash of six furlongs that enticed six of the shiftiest sprinters quartered in this sector. Chief of the supporting races is the Black Gold Combination Purse, a gallop of a mile and a sixteenth for a ,000 prize, that is offered as the sixth race. It is in this race that owners could elect to run their charges with a claiming tag as high as 5,000, a new high in Michigan racing, and one, Anthony Graffagninis Rip Away, is entered for that price. In the Cadillac Handicap, Mrs. G. C. Whites Diamond Dick is asked to carry top weight of 118 pounds. The son of Rolls Royce and Dis Dame gave evidence of present fitness when he was an easy winner of the six-furlong Border City Handicap over a muddy track recently. While he is asked to pick up three pounds over his weight assignment in that test, the ease with which he scored left the impression that he would be first to greet the judges again. In the Border City it was Al Wellmans Many Lands who finished closest to Mrs. Whites ace and the son of Discovery again looms as the most formidable opponent to the highweight of the Cadillac. Many Lands will carry 113 pounds, including jockey Roberto Gonzalez. Crack Reward Carries Same Impost Under the same impost as Many Lands is T. D. Buhls Crack Reward. This four-year-old son of Reaping Reward was apparently in need of his race in the Border City to perfect his condition. Considered on his known ability he should be able to turn back the others, who are Mrs. Roy Carruthers Jimmie, U. R. Smiths Annies Reply and Vincent Ciceros Royal Flush. In the Black Gold, T. D. Buhls Air Sailor has an opportunity to atone for his defeat in the Col. Alger Memorial Handicap recently. In that test, in which he was asked to carry 120 pounds over the same distance as tomorrows encounter, he was installed an odds-on choice and flattered his followers by setting most of the pace, only to finish unplaced. His impost is the same today. It was O. F. Woodwards Sir Sprite who accounted for the Col. Alger and a renewal of the duel between him and Air Sailor will be watched with interest. Under the conditions of the Black Gold, Sir Sprite will pick up five pounds over his burden in his success and he and Air Sailor will meet at equal weights. Interest is added to the Black Gold by the presence of R. S. McLaughlins Canadian invader, Kingarvie. This three-year-old has compiled an enviable record across the border and his sorties against open competition will be watched keenly. Other highlights on the excellent card include the five-furlong Louis Chevrolet Purse for two-year-olds for a ,500 prize and the about one mile nightcap event which will be contested over the turf course.
