Representative Field of Ten to Clash In 5,000 Kent Stakes at Delaware Pellicle, Natchez, Lovat, School Tie and Lovemenow Principal Entrants in Race DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 7. — The racing spotlight will focus on this picturesque but modern racing plant tomorrow, where the 5,000 Kent Stakes, one of the countrys outstanding three-year-old specials, will headline a stellar week-end program. A representative field of 10 of the best sophomores in the East were drawn overnight for the one mile and a sixteenth event, the line-up including enough first-rank members of the division to lend the race nationwide importance. Enjoying the dubious honor of highweight in the well-matched field is Hal Price Headleys Pellicle, who will shoulder 120 pounds while endeavoring to add the Kent to his list of achievements, which includes a fine victory in the recent 5,000 Providence Stakes at Narragansett Park. Arrayed against the Kentucky stalwart are such worthy adversaries as Gustave Rings Ringstown, Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Natchez, Cedar Farms Lovemenow, Paul J. Careys Sunhelio, Greentree Stables School Tie, Walter M. Jeffords Lovat and Bran-dywine Stables Dirl. While Pellicle most certainly has quali- ► fied as one of the countrys first-rank three-year-olds, the fine dark bay son of Sir Damion — Pelisse may not enjoy favor -itsm. That distinction most likely will be accorded the lightly weighted Natchez, who will carry only 108 pounds, 18 less than he shouldered in his game, but futile chase after the redoubtable Assault in last Saturdays one mile and a half Belmont Stakes. Possessed of high early speed, Natchez also will find the one mile and a sixteenth Kent route weighing heavily in his favor. Another member of the Kent group most certain to enjoy a fair share of support is the Greentree Colorbearer, School Tie, who qualified handsomely for the event on Tuesday when he raced a mile and a sixteenth over a slow track to defeat Lovemenow and Ringstown, among others. The redoubtable Eddie Arcaro, who rode School Tie in that prep, will make another of his flying trips to Delaware Park to handle the colt in his Kent engagement. School Tie was assigned 108 pounds for the Kent. Lovemenow, under 114 tomorrow, will be discarding eight pounds from the burden he carried while dropping a neck decision to School Tie last Tuesday. That race was Lovemenows first since he finished seventh in the rich Preakness on May 11 at Pimlico. The colt may have needed that prep to tighten him up for tomorrows more important engagement. Lovat, who enjoyed marked success during the Maryland spring season, will be making his first start since he was beaten by the Calumet Farms clever three-year-old colt, Pep Well, in an overnight feature on May 24 at Havre De Grace. Before that creditable effort, Lovat had won a pair of fine victories. The son of Jamestown — Coquelicot has trained exceptionally well for tomorrows race. Dirl has had a race over the local track, but was beaten rather convincingly by the fleet Tidy Bid, going six furlongs. He will be better suited racing a mile and a sixteenth. Sunhelio has won his last two starts, one of which was a dead-heat with Flash Burn in a six-furlong sprint during Havre De Graces second spring meeting. The colt subsequently defeated Flash Burn also at six furlongs at the same track.
