Queen Flash Graduates in Detroit Opener FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 7. — Overcast skies held a threat of rain, but this did not materialize during the early races and a crowd estimated at 15,000 turned out to witness todays sport. The Lou Meyer Combination Purse attracted the best field of the day for a gallop of a mile and a sixteenth that was seventh on the card, but eight three-year-olds that met in the six furlongs Joe Burger Purse vied with the headliner in interest. Queen Flash, under the silks of E. G. Drake, proved best of the band of nine non-winners that met in the first race. Under strong handling by the veteran Sterling Young, the daughter of King Cole came from close to the early pace to take command entering the stretch and maintain a one -length advantage over W. J. Addisons Nayada at the end of the six-furlong dash. Dixianas Amber Glow was third, slightly more than a length away after showing the way into the home lane. Queen Flash was timed in 1:15% and returned 4.00.
