JUDY DUNN was sent to the leaders on the inside immediately after the beginning, saved ground, shook off a stout bid from JOHNS BIRD in the stretch and drew out under urging. JOHNS BIRD, prominent from the beginning and on the outside of the winner, challenged stoutly through the stretch, but was not good enough. FAVORITE TRAP moved into closer contention on the inside in the backstretch, was taken to the outside for the drive and hung. VIANFR improved her position through the stretch, but could not engage the leaders. QUATRE STAR finished well on the outside. POLAR EVE raced well in spots. FRANKS PAL, away fastest, opened up a long lead at once, went slightly wide entering the stretch and just lasted to hold DIAVOLO CHIEF safe. The latter improved his position steadily, secured room on the inside entering the stretch, then closed fast and just failed to get up. GALLANT FOOT had good early speed, saved ground, but weakened at the end. JOE VALENTI lacked early speed, but closed well. MICHAEL J. was unable to get to the leaders on the outside. BUILDER improved his position steadily between horses and closed with a rush. SURF RIDER had good early speed while racing with ALL GOOD in the lead, then weakened slightly. BIT GAY improved her position gradually and closed a good gap. SEALANE raced evenly and forwardly in a good effort. BENEVA moved up threateningly through the stretch, then hung. VALDINA FIND, outrun early, finished well. ALL GOOD had early speed to take a short lead, but flattened out badly under pressure. Overweight— Bit Gay, 1 pound; Sliding Home, 2; Lestabert, 2. GYPSTER, under stout restraint while close to the early pace, took a short lead on the turn while racing with MISS FLUFF, shook off the latter after a stiff duel and drew out under pressure. MISS FLUFF took a short lead early while racing on the inside of the winner, then hung on stubbornly when challenged and gave way slowly. TOP REWARD, very sluggish early, trailed until, leaving the backstretch, moved up on the outside and lost considerable ground, then finished fast. FLORIZAN SAM raced forwardly and evenly, challenged stoutly between horses and hung on well. COUNT DOUBLE moved up quickly from a slow beginning to challenge in the stretch, then flattened out. SHEILA MAY was sent to the front in the run for the first turn, was rated there, disposed of VALDINA SECRET in the stretch, then held STIPPLER safe under hard urging. STIPPLER was under restraint within reach of the leaders, was called upon to go to the outside for the drive, made a determined bid while racing in close proximity to the winner, but could not get up. VALDINA SECRET raced closest to the winner and on the inside, but weakened right at the end. VALDINA REX, slow to settle in stride, closed well, but was not dangerous. PARI KING was never prominent. SNOOKS WINTERS weakened badly after three-quarters. Overweight— Erazal, 3 pounds. Stippler claimed by Grissom and Sherman. Erazal claimed by Mrs. E. H. Beezley.
