Padgett Full-Fledged Rider; Covalli Also Loses Bug DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 8. — The apprentice riders who will have the first of a series of races all to themselves on Tuesday will not have to contend with the flashy Don Padgett. The 18-year-old Wallerboro, S. C, rider will lose his weight allowance Monday when there is no racing at Delaware Park. Another rider who will be ineligible for these races is Johnny Covalli. Since coming to the races a year ago Padgett has ridden 168 winners, 103 of them this year. His winning record for 1946 through Friday includes 28 victories at Hialeah Park; two at the Fair Grounds; five at Tropical Park; 13 at Bowie; eight at Pimlico; 33 at Havre de Grave; three at Churchill Downs, and 11 here since the meeting opened 10 days ago.
