Arlington to Open Week From Today Steady Stream of Horses Arriving Daily; Plucky Flag To Be Flown From Mexico ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights. 111., June 8. — With enough celebrated thoroughbreds already on the grounds to put on a meeting worthy of the smartest possible thoroughbred, technicolor production. Arlington Parks fabulous meeting is just around the corner, with a week from Monday set as the official opening. A steady stream of thoroughbreds continue to fill up the remaining empty stalls, and theyre coming in by train, horse van and it was just learned that Plucky Flag, a filly who won the Mexican Derby, will leave Mexico City by plane along with three other horses Wednesday. In other words, all signs are pointing to Arlington and its brilliant array of stakes. Among the latest scheduled arrivals are I the stables owned by Emil Schwartzhaupt, wealthy whiskey leader; Claude C. Tanner, well-known New Orleans fruit juice king; J. Howard Rouse and many others. Schwarzhaupts horses are trained by William Hicks and included in the outfit is the 5,000 yearling Dancing Margot. William Crump will have charge of the horses owned by Tanner and Rouse, among others. The good sprinter Three Dots, who proved a sensation two years ago, is back in training and Crump will attempt to have him under colors before the Arlington meeting terminates. Shaffer Horses Due Tommy Marshall is also booked to bring a goodly sized public stable in from California, and the horses belong to Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Dale Shaffer are among those slated to arrive within a few days. Freddie Burton, popular official who will serve as racing secretary during the meeting, will open his offices Monday. He will arrive this week-end from Charles Town, W. Va., where he has been acting in a similar role. Burton urges the early registration of all horses on the grounds. In preparation for its reopening Arlington Park has been lavishly redecorated and remodeled. Dining rooms in the clubhouse and grandstand area have been an -conditioned. Major improvements have been made to the Post and Paddock Club. These include air-conditioned dining rooms on upper and lower floors, with kitchens at both levels. The upper dining room is glass enclosed on three sides so as to provide a splendid sweeping view of the track, centerfield and surrounding area. The entire plant has been repainted and the grounds re -landscaped.
