Pirette Takes French Oaks at Longchamps PARIS, France, June 10. — [Reuters] — Marcel Le Barons Pirette yesterday defeated Rimsy by one length and a half in an exciting renewal of the 7,005 Prix De Diane French Oaks over the Longchamps course here. Ephese was another two and a half lengths away in the one mile and 550 yards race for three-year-old fillies. Pirette, who was 9 to 1, ran the distance in 2:20 9-10. Twenty horses started. Royale and Rimsy set the pace from the start, but later Cuadrilla, the favorite and one of Marcel Boussacs two entries, took command. At the head of the stretch seven horses were nearly aligned, with Pirette among the trailers. She closed with a rush to take the lead, then had enough in reserve to hold off a strong challenge by Rimsy.
