R. and F. L Knebelkamp. WENT TO POST-2:27. OFF AT 2:27 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won easily; second and third driving. YANK BOMBER, permitted to settle into stride, worked his way up gradually on the outside, moved to the front with a rush on the final turn and drew out easily. HOMER was sluggish in the early racing, was placed to hard urging leaving the backstretch, responded well to move up threateningly, but was no match for the winner. MARKABILITY, a stout factor from the start, made a determined bid in the stretch and held on well. FAVORITE TRAP was waited with within reach of the leaders, but flattened out under pressure. BARTS CHANCE closed stoutly. HERE GOES was unable to engage the leaders. WOOD ANGEL and KHAYYAMS KID quit. Here Goes claimed by Mile High Stable. Homer claimed by Donna-Ray Stable. LUCKY B., under restraint within reach of the early leaders, responded well to come to the outside for the drive, disposed of SEMPER AVANTI and held OLDOMWOOD safe. The latter moved into closer contention quickly, was taken to the outside for the drive and closed stoutly. SEMPER AVANT was sent into a clear lead, saved ground, but weakened. MISS BOO, always forwardly placed, moved up determinedly in the stretch, then hung. RAY G. had good early speed, but quit under pressure. AFGHANISTAN broke well, but dropped far back, then came again. BEL REVERE was unable to keep up. Overweight Ray G., 1 pound. ! Daily Double on the First and Second Races Paid 4.50. ! ! VALDINA SECRET improved her position gradually, went to the outside for the drive and was up in the final stride. FOUR DEEP, blocked twice when attempting to go between horses on the backstretch and on the turn, took a short lead in the stretc hand just failed to last. ECOMODATE was hustled to the front at once, shook off AUDREY M. entering the stretch, then flattened out badly. AUDREY M. was used up racing with ECOMODATE and weakened. MARCAP was unable to engage the leaders. The others were never prominent. Audrey M. claimed by S. Valenti. Our Boss claimed by Mrs. R. Grundy. Ecomodate claimed by L. and R. J. Fischer. SKIP ORR, In a contending position from the start, challenged boldly through the stretch and held on well. The latter was hard ridden to move into closer contention on the turn and was under pressure to the end. PHOTO LIGHT, unable to match the speed of the early leaders, continued evenly. ARIEL ACE was hustled into a clear lead immediately after the start and saved ground, but weakened at the end. BRIGHT STEEL, never far back, closed gamely. WOW closed fast from a slow beginning. MRS. VALENTI was unable to improve her position. GREGALACH was unable to enter serious contention at any time. WEE ADMIRAL had early speed while racing on the inside, but flattened out as though short.
