OVER ICE, kept within striking distance of the pace the first quarter, moved up on the outside to challenge LUNCH DATE for the lead, responded to stout handling to forge to the front leaving the sixteenth pole and was drawing out at the end. LUNCH DATE broke alertly, disposed of VAMPIRE, held a short lead until deep in the stretch, then faltered. FLAMING HIGH saved ground leaving the backstretch, then was steered to the outside and finished on his own courage. VAMPIRE was sent up fast to take command soon after the beginning and held on gamely for a half mile when pressed, then faltered under intermittent pressure. WINECUP was unable to reach serious contention. MODEL LADY raced evenly. LOOKS EASY and PHANTOM PEGGY were outrun. LASSAGRIA, under a tight hold for six furlongs, moved around the field when ready, drew clear and was being eased at the end. SNAZY remained close to the pace under stout restraint, saved ground on the turns, moved into a short lead nearing the final quarter, then came again after the winner had drawn off. MAGNESIUM was not hurried while trailing the field for six furlongs, then began working way up on the outside, but was unable to menace the top pair. COPPERMAN, formidably placed from the beginning, was trying to bear out on the final turn, then weakened under intermittent pressure. ESTA showed nohing. SCOTCH BREAD was never a sericus factor. SUPER FOOT, hustled from the start to assume command, was steadied along while saving ground, then was roused entering the stretch and withstood the bids of RESPIRE and WAR PAGE. The latter was hard ridden through the stretch after RESPIRE had moved up to challenge and was closing on the winner in the final strides. RESPIRE, a forward factor on the outside, rallied mildly entering the final furlong, then faltered under steady urging. SPEED UP raced evenly without mishap. POMPAGLE closed fast through the final furlong. ZACABRAND moved up on the inside nearing the far turn, then weakened. NIGHT BOMBER had no excuse. CREEPIN was unable to reach contention. YES OR NO, closer to the pace than usual, moved into command leaving the furlong pole and widened his advantage to win with speed in reserve. HEARTH BROOM was hustled from the beginning to assume command, drew clear and held on gamely when displaced by the winner. DON MILLER broke alertly, was unable to remain with the leaders in the first quarter, made a determined effort rounding the final turn and closed willingly through the stretch. WISE ADVICE, in closest attendance of the early pace, weakened slightly under steady pressure. BEE W BEE was unable to remain with the leaders after being favorably placed in the first quarter, then came again in the final stages. ONECBILL went evenly without mishap. CREAM was under steady urging, but failed to improve position. PRINCE FAVOR and KINGS COUNT were outrun. Overweight Cream, 1 pound. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. WINDMILL broke quickly, drew clear in the first quarter, was under light urging to the furlong pole, turned back the bid of SCHOLARSHIP and drew away again under pressure. The latter was a forward factor from the beginning, was eased back nearing the three-furlong pole, came around JO AGNES to challenge the winner, then held on with good energy. SHINY PENNY worked way up on the inside to close with good courage through the final furlong. AGRARIAN-U was always within striking distance, slipped through on the inside entering the stretch, loomed as a threat, then faltered. SOLLURE made up ground in the late stages under a steady drive. JO AGNES retired steadily after being unable to get to the front early. QUIEN ES raced evenly. HY-CHARLIE broke tardily and was never a factor. MAGDALA showed nothing. ELPIS, under a tight hold for five furlongs, moved through on the inside leaving the backstretch, drew on even terms with LETMENOW at the top of the stretch, was roused leaving the furlong pole and drew out to win as rider pleased. LETMENOW broke alertly, was hustled to the first turn, came out in closest attendance of BURGOO MAID, was steadied along until nearing the half-mile pole, then moved up to assume command and drew clear, then was under intermittent pressure when challenged by the winner and swerved slightly in the stretch, but recovered and continued gamely. SEGULA, forwardly placed going to the first turn, was bumped by RECCE, recovered and maintained her position to the end. LAYOUT, a distant trailer to the final quarter, saved ground and was closing fast through the stretch. SLENDER LADY showed an even effort. STEPPING MISS failed to respond to stout pressure. SINGULAR, under a tight hold for seven furlongs, moved to the leaders with ease, came to the outside of WAR AGENT turning into the stretch, continued on without urging, disposed of SPLINTER leaving the furlong pole and won with speed in reserve. DISCOURAGED was going easily while within striking distance of the leaders, moved up on the outside while racing wide and closed with good courage. WAR AGENT opened a clear lead early, was steadied along to the final turn and lost the lead to SPLINTER, then continued gamely. SPLINTER moved up to take command turning into the stretch, but was no match for the winner when challenged and weakened in the final sixteenth. TURNTABLE showed othing. OCEANUS, slow to get into stride, was under a stout hold until. midway of the final turn, then responded to steady urging, came around on the outside entering the stretch and continued to gain through the final sixteenth and was up in the last stride. TRACELETTE, under wraps while close to the pace, moved to the front when ready, was under a steady drive for a quarter and just failed to last. BELLSBORO saved ground while moving up. but was unable to close on the top pair in the final sixteenth. NEVERFRET, a forward factor from the beginning, moved to the leaders entering the stretch, then faltered. NOAHVALE failed to respond to intermittent pressure turning into the stretch.
