CATEYES raced in close attendance to the pace from the outset, displaced the leader in the early stretch and outlasted AUSCULTATION. The latter improved his position on the inside, but hung after getting within striking distance of the winner. GAUNTLET broke tardily and lacked early speed, then closed with a bold rush. ACKLEY was hard pressed while setting the pace for a half and faltered. MAGIC STEP rallied mildly in the late stages. DON OSULLIVAN was never able to threaten. ECURB was through early. TAP LIGHTLY, steadied during the first half mile, displaced the leader from the outside and hung on determinedly to last over JAMES ACRE. The latter dropped back despite saving ground leaving the turn, responded to urging and closed willingly. LINZA was forwardly placed from the start and held on well while forced to race between horses during the drive. EASY CHAIR was hard ridden and rallied too late. THORNPATCH quit badly after setting the pace for a half mile. HAIL VIC was very fractious at the gate, tossed his rider and ran off about a half mile and had no chance with the start BALMAND dwelt at the start. INDUCTED was practically left. SEND OFF was sent into the lead at once, drifted out entering the stretch and, after giving way to ZO-BO briefly, came again to take command and outfinished KANKEEKEE. The latter appeared to follow the winner out turning for home, responded to strong pressure thereafter and was wearing him down at the finish. ZO-BO saved ground to take a slight lead briefly at the three-sixteenths post, then weakened. GILDED TRUMP rallied to reach contention in the early stretch, then raced very wide. ROCKWOOD ARGO, off alertly but unable to keep up in the deep going on the rail, moved between horses to reach contention, hung briefly when headed by JUSTA NOTE several jumps from the wire, then was up under good handling. JUSTA NOTE lacked speed through the first half mile, rallied well between horses, assumed command just before the finish, then gave way. BEAUS NURSE rallied too late. NORA BELLE raced evenly. PIQUANT tired. SCOTSUN drew clear on the turn, but folded up badly under pressure. PELOPS turned In a dull effort. BUNK was very sluggish early. HIPPOMENES may have needed the race. PAVOT was off running and retained his rail position, was perfectly rated while setting the pace, turned back the challenge of WAR TROPHY on the final turn, drew clear again and lasted without strenuous urging. GALLORETTE, unhurried while within striking distance early, held on determinedly, but could not menace the winner. STYMIE trailed while racing on his own courage early commenced boldly moving rounding the turn, but lacked his usual late rush. WAR TROPHY pressed the pace under steadying restraint, moved to the leader on the final turn and weakened when unable to displace him. TRYMENOW was unable to improve his positoin.
