BITTER QUILL began fast, but could not keep up early, came between horses approaching the stretch and, responding to punishment, wore down the leaders, then held JETTA T. safe. The latter, forced to take up when caught in close quarters on the upper turn, came again when clear and was getting to the winner at the end. LIMITATION, forwardly placed to the stretch, lost much ground on the final turn and closed strongly under urging. MY GRACE gave a good effort and had no mishap. MISS SHOW ME went to the front early, made the pace to the final furlong, then weakened. LUCKY ANN was outrun and forced wide entering the stretch. ALGRINS had a rough trip. IN SILVER, on the inside throughout, tired badly during the drive. CAST OFF forced the pace until midway of the stretch, then gave way. HANDY LAD, a sharp factor from the start, came out for the drive and, responding to strong handling, disposed of NELLIE WEED during the last sixteenth. NELLIE WEED went to the front at once, made the pace until near the finish under occasional urging, but was unable to withstand the winner. TUTELO, slow to begin, was going stoutly in the stretch when he bumped with ZO Z0, then closed fast when clear. ZO ZO, never far back, failed to recover after colliding with TUTELO during the drive. COMPATRIOT, blocked near the half-mile post, moved up strongly when clear and finished well in a sharp effort. PLAIDLOCH went evenly without mishap. WILD ADVICE, forwardly placed from the start, went to the front after three-eighths, held a short lead when settled in the stretch and, permitted to bear in to OVER NIGHT near the finish, lasted to withstand DINNER GUEST. The latter saved ground while in hand to the final quarter, came gamely when hard ridden in the drive and was getting to the winner at the end. OVER NIGHT, never far back and well ridden, held on determinedly despite interference near the finish from WILD ADVICE. GOBLIN, outrun early, finished fast under urging. FRANK MUNNS never was dangerous. PRAIRIE FLOWER had early speed. ESPIRITU could not keep up. LITTLE PATTY showed nothing and was eased when hopelessly beaten. SAND STORM, forwardly placed from, the beginning, came to the outside of ALAR during the drive, overcame interference when the latter drifted out and retained her advantage under brisk- handling. ALAR went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch under occasional urging, drifted out when set down in the drive and could not withstand the winner, just missing. DIDER0D raced evenly to the stretch, then finished strongly under punishment. NANCY FLY lacked early speed, but closed fast under brisk handling. CHESTY gave way after racing prominently to the stretch. DONNA BRAND began fast, but could not keep up. RED CANTER tired. FREE SPEECH never was dangerous. PREOCCUPY assumed command at once, made the pace to the stretch under pressure from EDUCATION and held on willingly through the final quarter, but was not good enough. HYDRANT, never far back, came to the inside entering the stretch and finished willingly under punishment, but could not threaten the winner. WITCH SIR assumed command early, made the pace to the stretch under pressure from FINAL GLORY, then faltered during the drive. FINAL GLORY weakened after engaging WITCH SIR to the stretch. SIGNALS BLOKE, in hand while saving ground to the stretch, took command when set down for the drive and held on determinedly to withstand INDIAN TRACE. The latter, reserved to the final quarter, bore in badly when subjected to punishment in the stretch, but was getting to the winner a the end. ICANC, on he inside throughout, raced prominently to the stretch, then faltered. SIBLEY, outrun early, swerved to the inside when roused for the drive and could not threaten the leaders. JACALITOS, forced to take up repeatedly when bothered during the stretch run, lost all chance. SKY WOLF was outrun. ILEFETCHIT quit after racing forwardly placed to the stretch. DARBY DULUTH, reserved to the final quarter, suffered interference through the stretch run when NICTOR swerved and could not get to the leaders. FLORIZAN ACE, a sharp factor from the outset, reached the lead when settled for the drive, then weakened. CHERRY WINE gave a good effort and had no excuse. ECHO BEACH was outrun.
