Eleven Sprinters Contest Inkster Purse at Detroit Putitthere May Carry Bulk of Support Off Last Winning Race FATJt GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 15. The Inkster Combination Purse tops the Monday card at Detroit and the conditions attracted 11 fair sprinters to contest the six-furlong dash. None of the entrants carry claiming tags. The race shapes up as a wide open affair with the winner likely to come from any quarter. Builder, claimed recently by A. Ferrara has been second twice over this strip. S. I. Crews Putitthere may carry the bulk of public support on the strength of his recent victory over this track. Valdina Senora, from the stable of B. Hernandez, is another that has a local triumph to recommend her and J. L. Chesneys Play Hands gave evidence of present fitness by a creditable second recently. The supporting races are well up to standard and two other combination races are offered in addition to the feature. Two-year-olds get their chance in the five furlongs Salina Purse that is second on the, card while the popular race for novice riders is scheduled third. Interest continues to run high in the current 10-day race for jockey honors. Apprentice Terry Sullivan continues to set a fast pace for his fellow pigskin artists. This lad is a development of the jockey school founded by general manager George Lewis and financed by the Detroit Racing Association with the approval and cooperation of state steward Joseph A. Murphy and presiding steward Jack S. Young. Apprentice Joe Licausi, currently leading the riders of the country at Suffolk Downs, was graduated from the school last year.
