Blue Grass Drives to Neck Victory Over Cosmic Missile CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky.. May 2. — Blue Grass, wearing the colors of A. B. Hancock, Jr., and ridden by Johnny Longden, scored a driving neck victory over the highly favored Cosmic Missile in the seventy-third running of the historic 5,-000 Kentucky Oaks here today. C. V. Whitneys Mother finished third. The Oaks was contested over a muddy track, and the race saw Cosmic Missile and Mother take much the worst of the racing luck. Springtide, a stablemate of the winner, swerved after the start and, in the ensuing jam. Cosmic Missile was the worst sufferer. The horse was then in a pocket until the far turn, came out and then dropped to the inside again when clear and closing steadily next the rail, was close up at the wire in an exceptionally good effort.
