The Good Goods is a six-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and upward, while the Mate matches three-year-olds at one mile, and the top offerings drew well balanced fields, indicating that good sport will result. The Good Goods is the seventh race on the card and David W. Butlers Unchallenged, a gelded son of Challenger H. and Airegia, is to make his 1947 racing debut in the sprint. Unchallenged has been training splendidly here under the supervision of Jacob Lowenstein and he had a fair record last year, earned against good company. Under the conditions of the twin headliner, Unchallenged will answer the bugle under 111 pounds. Unchallenged will have to be at his best to turn back his 10 Good Goods rivals for included in the band named to oppose him are Paxton Hickmans Hearth Mouse, Gris-som and Shermans Billy Rolfe, J. C. Ellis Gomel, Jess Trents Castleman and Mrs. H. S. Thomas Miss Militant. Hearth Mouse is reported ready for a good effort, Billy Rolfe has shown speed in his recent starts and Gomel has been a frequent visitor to the winners circle. The Mate Purse occupies the fifth and sixth spots on the Monday bill and Dix-ianas improved Galloway probably will be the choice in the initial end of the eight-furlong event. Galloways main opposition may come from J. M. Pierces Swing Maid, although L. K. Haggins Pam finished strongly in a recent start and she may im- ► prove sufficiently off that performance to I be dangerous. The last half of the Mate could develop i into a sharp tussle as the starting band appears evenly matched. Murlogg Farms I Balheim, who was a surprise entry in the ! Kentucky Derby, was withdrawn from that - classic when the track improved. Balheim, a top off-track colt, can handle firm footing and he may be favorite over his seven 1 rivals. . William Peaveys Jett-Jett, who started in the Derby, but was hopelessly beaten 1 after a mishap before the break, should go 1 well, but James C. Ellis Rippling Sand, a 1 winner during the current meeting, L. J. ; Tutts Jitsa, and Augustus and Nahms Chic Chic cannot be held too lightly in the ; Monday test. . Two overnight handicaps are scheduled 1 for decision at the Derby oval next week. * A six-furlong sprint for three-year-olds 5 and upward is to headline the Wednesday program and entries for the dash close Monday, May 12.
