Randall Park to Inaugurate Northern Ohio Season Friday RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, May 10. — Randall Park, located just outside of Cleveland on the Warrensville Center Road, will usher in the northern Ohio racing season on Friday, May 16. The suburban Cleveland track will card the usual daily program of eight races, with the Daily Double run off on the first and second events. Post time will be 2:30 p. m., and turf fans will not be held up reaching the track, as improved bus transportation and parking facilities have been promised. Ever since the local contractors, Sam Lombardo and John Masoni, took over the management of the old North Randall trotting track a few years back, both attendance and wagering have climbed steadily. The management and mutuel head Norman Telzrow hope to set a new record handle on Memorial Day. The old record for one day, 43,000, was set in 1946. The official staff of racing secretary Emmett Hileman, who has just recovered from a severe illness, will be drawn from major racing centers on both coasts. W. M. Shewbridge, either racing secretary or steward at half a dozen eastern tracks, will share his duties in the stewards stand with Norris Royden, who comes eastward from his post as racing secretary at Bay Meadows. Among the other officials are Prank Bassnet, who last served as clerk of scales at Sunshine Park; Frank Cronin, who comes from Pimlico, and John OKeefe, who was an official at Bowie. The opening days feature will be the Homestretch Handicap, contested for a trophy given by the stars of the 20th Century Fox picture, "The Homestretch."
