HAWKW00D ARESS, always a forward factor and on the outside, disposed of INTERMISSION when asked and drew clear to win easily. CAHORS rallied from just off the pace, but could not menace the winner. INTERMISSION was hard pressed while setting the pace and weakened. MAGIC STEP made up ground steadily. TAP LIGHTLY tired after showing good speed along the inside. TENNESSEE MAID raced evenly. CLUB SCOTCH could not keep up. CAST OUT tired. BALMAND was sore going postward, broke very tardily and came back lame. GOOD EXAMPLE, shuffled back when SARACEN MISS went in at the start, disposed of the latter when asked, was perfectly rated and lasted after swerving inside the furlong pole. REFLEX ARC, steadied within striking distance of the first flight, moved to the leader menacingly and appeared to be tiring when the leader swerved in front of him. REPRODUCTION rallied only mildly. MISS COLUMBUS caught tired horses. POMPEYS SONG saved ground while forwardly placed and weakened. SARACEN MISS ducked to the rail sharply at the break and quit early. SIMOND showed nothing. PHARA SURPRISE outsprinted the field along the backstretch and was not seriously threatened while winning rather easily. TURNABOUT was slow to settle in stride and made up ground steadily, but could not reach the winner. VIVA TEDDY saved ground while forwardly placed and was not good enough, but caught FLYING WEATHER for a dead-heat for show. The latter weakened after pressing the pace. EAST made up some ground after breaking tardily. RIP AWAY showed a good effort after being practically eliminated at the start. OUR CANDIDATE weakened early. CHICLE CLOWN had brief speed. FAULTLESS, not hurried early, was smartly handled while improving his position between horses, challenged from the outside and wore down ON TRUST. The latter moved up rapidly on the outside to take command soon after entering the backstretch, obtained a commanding lead rapidly nearing the half-mile marker, was well rated to the stretch, responded when roused and held on tenaciously, but could not resist the winner. PHALANX, slow to reach best stride, raced on the outside while rallying on the final turn, then failed to make up ground in the final test. JET PILOT was unable to outrun ON TRUST after the opening quarter and weakened while showing a tendency to drift out. RISKOLATER was badly outrun early and rallied mildly, but was not good enough. COSMIC BOMB loomed a serious threat on the final turn and weakened under strong pressure. SECNAV, hard held while within striking distance early, was in close quarters briefly nearing the far turn and could not threaten when asked for best. BULLET PROOF caught only tired horses. LICTOR, taken under steadying restraint when BETTYS BOBBY went to the lead, was caught in close quarters when rider allowed horses to move on the outside of him, then closed willingly in the final test.
