BALU MIKE, steadied within striking distance of the leaders, rallied under pressure and outfinished EVEN STAR. The latter sprinted into a commanding early lead and held on tenaciously when challenged. GAY WILDY was slow to settle in stride, moved through on the inside turning for home and closed with good energy. COMELY BABE moved menacingly on the turn and hung. GOOD SERVICE broke tardily and raced extremely wide while rallying. 0. K. DORIS was through early. MY EGRET quit to a walk after the first half mile. GOLD BRAID improved his position steadily from the outside and wore down KULINA. The latter set the pace from the beginning and just failed to last. GOLDEN ARROW, always a forward factor, challenged for the lead in the early stretch and weakened slightly when unsuccessful. DISPELLED failed to rally. KNIGHTS HURRY tired. TOM FERRIS, always a forward factor and steadied early, responded readily when roused and lasted over SCAT BACK. The latter lacked speed during the early running and moved between horses, but could not menace the winner. TOWNS BULLY was shuffled back on the turn and may have been best. IN was hard ridden to attain the lead and quit. LOUTEY reached the lead on the turn, but quit badly when challenged. CONSTANTINOS rallied too late. REGALER, not hurried when slow to settle in stride, lacked racing room while commencing her rally in the vicinity of the furlong pole, recovered nicely and was up in the final stride over SOMA LAD. The latter moved boldly to attain the lead inside the - furlong pole and just missesd. LIDO WAY weakened slightly after showing the way into the stretch. VIRGINIA BEACH raced forwardly placed from the beginning, but was not good enough. DEVIL MAY CARE lacked early speed and was forced very wide while rallying. MISS SCEPTRE showed good speed before retiring. TRY-OUT quit badly. OKAMSEL had very brief speed. Scratched— 23064 Sunrise Sail, 107; 230634 Lady Egret. 102. SERVICE PILOT was allowed to race on his own courage while following the pace, moved impressively when roused and drew clear to win handily. HAMMER-LOCK shook off ON THE RIVER early, gave way on the final turn, then outfinished BOSTON MAN for the place. The latter attained the lead on the final bend, but tired badly. NOBLE ONE was never a threat. MARCH CHICK turned in a dull effort. ON THE RIVER stopped to a walk when unable to obtain a clear early lead. THATS PRETTY assumed command from the outside on the final turn and weakened. GULLAH came too late to make her a serious threat. CASH 0. BOY moved well along the inside leaving the backstretch and failed to respond after lacking room briefly. RELIOUS quit badly through the stretch. ONE ONLY had speed to the stretch.
