ALAS ZEVIAL was a prominent factor from the beginning, responded when roused in the final furlong and drew away. HESTER S. improved her position on the inside and finished with good courage. YOULLBESORRY showed speed from the start and had no mishap. FOOLISH DEVIL, on the inside, could not menace the leaders when roused. ENIGMA had early speed, then quit. PUFF OF SMOKE stumbled at the start, but recovered quickly and was steadied along close to the pace, then assumed command rounding the stretch turn and held her opposition safe. CHALLE began slowly and improved her position on the outside to finish well. MAGIC LILY was well up from the start between the leaders and tired at the end. DEAR MOM had early speed. BAR SHIP was steadied along in the running, but moved up fast entering the final furlong and, under pressure, disposed of HIGH TINT. The latter jumped well and, showed speed on the flat and held on well. NAYR was outrun early and made up some ground, but could not menace the leaders. SOVIET was steadied along in the early running, moved up fast on the outside rounding the stretch turn, disposed of GOOD EXAMPLE and drew away under urging. GOOD EXAMPLE raced VALSE DOR into defeat and drew away entering the stretch, then quit. TELK. on the inside in the early stages, could not menace the leaders at the end. WAR TROPHY was well up from the start, came through on the inside rounding the stretch turn and, under pressure, disposed of SAFE REWARD. The latter, in near pursuit of the pace, disposed of SPEEDING HOME in the stretch run and hung. SPEEDING HOME was quick to begin, showed early speed and quit. ALADEAR was outrun early. SWEET CAPRICE dropped back after the start and was steered wide on the stretch turn, then finished with a belated rush. QUICK REWARD was never a factor. FOX BROWNIE showed a dull effort all the way. BRIGHT SWORD was close up from the start and moved up on the inside rounding the stretch turn, responded to severe pressure in the late stages although drifting out and outfinished VERTIGO II. The latter was outrun in the early stages, moved up stoutly in the stretch run and finished well under pressure. A claim of foul was lodged against the winner for drifting out at the end which was not allowed. PETROL POINT was well up all the way, but faltered near the finish. MANGONEO was closer up than usual, but was forced wide rounding the stretch turn and then eased to the inside of the leaders in the final sixteenth. GOBLIN was never a factor.
