SWAMP RAT broke alertly and outran the opposition, held a commanding advantage despite being a trifle green and was only mildly urged. MERRY SIZZLE improved his position steadily, but could not reach the top one. NINA ROSE raced greenly, but turned in a fair effort when settled into stride. ALERTNESS raced forwardly and tired. MELFORD FIRST faltered after pressing the pace. PHANTOM FURY was shuffled back early. DUTCH QUEEN had brief speed and drifted out badly while tiring. TARRYDIDDLE was unable to threaten. PENNY HILL was under restraint while dropping far out of contention, then rallied too late to become a factor. COUNT ALA raced wide into the stretch. ASTRODOME was alertly handled to assume the lead immediately after the start, was nicely rated and responded to the pressure to hold PIGIWIGI safe. The latter raced forwardly from the start, but could not wear down the top one. AFLAME, slow to settle into stride, made up ground from the outside. SMARTY-ARTY, sluggish early, raced wide and closed best of all. LA CYGNE was prominent to the stretch and faltered. JUST LIKE MOM was through early. LIBERTY A., flattened out after a half mile. MINADDIE, a factor from the start, responded to pressure, but was not good enough. WILY raced along the inside while improving her position and closed with good energy. PIP PIP set the pace but could not turn back the challenge of the eventual winner, then weakened. OLECRANNON raced evenly. The rider on AURA LEE appeared unprepared for the break.
