CLIMBER steadily improved his position on the outside to dispose of AIR ARM inside the stretch and, in a long drive, held PREFER TROUTT safe. The latter came to the outside for the drive and, under hard urging, was gradually getting to the winner. AIR ARM held a clear lead when placed to the drive, then tired. STAYEDTOOLONG failed to attain the lead and had little left for the drive. TYROL was outrun, as. was DATE BOOK. NEVER IN DOUBT quit. DASHA had no mishap. OPTIONAL was through early. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. JAL, outrun until reaching the upper turn, responded readily when briskly handled and, after taking command in the stretch, won under punishment, BOLD STAR, never far back, held on well to the final furlong, was in close quarters nearing the finish, but was not good enough for the winner, although much the best of the others. SKY TRAIN raced evenly until inside the stretch, then weakened. GOOD HEAVENS did not like the muddy track and tired after showing early speed. MRS. KAY went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, then gave way. BELL COLLECTOR was never prominent. Overweight— Bell Collector. 4 pounds. Jal claimed by A. Lamourtux.
