1 * — Gehrmann Decides to Take Rest After Recent Losses MILWAUKEE, Wis., April 30 UP. — Don Gehrmann, slim and slumping Milwaukee king of mile runners, said disappointingly today he was retiring from track for at least the rest of the season. "I just dont have time to work out and keep in shape," he said. "Ill run again next season if I can find time to get back in top condition, but Im not sure Ill have time." The former Wisconsin star, now public relations man for the American Auto Association here, said there is a possibility he will enter the Festival of Britain Games in London, August 11. "But I rather doubt it." Gehrmanns slump the past two months has been a bitter disappointment to him. The 23 -year-old speedster had won 39 straight mile races before losing to FBI agent Fred Wilt early in March. He started the indoor season strong, won the Wannamaker Mile in his best time of 4:07.5, and beat Wilt, his arch rival, with regularity.
